We're donating $10,000 to the cause

The Groundspeak Lackeys entered the DARPA Balloon Network Challenge on December 5, 2009. In the end we didn't win the $40,000 for charity, but we're still donating $10,000 of our own money to DonorsChoose.org programs.

Balloons... Up Up and... Tethered!

The DARPA Network Challenge has begun! Thanks to everyone who let us know that their eyes will be in the sky while out geocaching. We'll send status updates when we get them.

Already strategies are revealing themselves in the competition.

  4. If anyone sees one in Oregon, that would be cool if you could post a hint so we can take our kiddie cachers to see it and have their photo with the Darpa person. None we've seen driving around town so far....

  5. In response to what 'eight' said...according to the web site all baloons display a Darpa logo, except balloon number 6. Hopefully no one will post disinformation here as we are all working together for a good cause and not for personal gain. I'd like to think geocachers are above the disinformation thing....
